SHADOWS AND LIGHTS

COLLECTION OF POLARIZATION AND OPPOSITES

This series explores shadow and light through the shapes, colors, and feelings of cityscapes and ballerinas. The contrast of ballerinas amid the linear and rigid environment of the city showcases the hard-to-grasp relationship between grace and brutality. It was my goal to bring a sense of elegance to the cold and chaotic landscape -- a moment of pause, a moment for peace to find its way to the viewer amid the busyness of their own life.

In some photographs you can see how the shadows and lights merge together, giving contrast and depth to one another. The ballerina becomes part of the railing, a bus becomes part of the ballet. Our world is one of polarization and opposites, this body of work shows that a delicate bridge exists between every extreme. And in most cases, it is this closeness of contrast that makes life beautiful.
